They are usually open until the end lunch time and their lunch specials are awesome.
Always get your money's worth here! Fresh ingredients, excellent wait staff and retro atmosphere. You can't go wrong!
This diner is filled with 50's nostalgic decorations in standard Midwest fashion, the coffee is decent, the service is decent. Coffee cups must be brought to you instead of being readily available on the table. Dirty air vents, the counter looks like some one did a poor job painting it (dried paint that ran down the sides). Whoever installed the drop ceiling did a poor job of measuring (some of the panels don't quite fit together correctly). The last thing is parking. It is on street parking and there is only room for a couple cars. For more parking spots you have to park across the street.
Good food authentic sixties atmosphere 👍🏼👍🏼
We stopped here by accident and someone getting into their car said it was great food. Guess what...IT IS. We had the roast beef sandwich and it brought back memories. Good ones! Those memories went into fantasy once I ate some coconut cream pie. Yum!!!
Love breakfast here, not expensive at all.
Ordered the biscuits and gravy with hash browns and crispy bacon. The gravy came Waterdown no flavor the hash brown and the bacon were half cook service was terrible. If you're looking for a restaurant look for a different place.
Our family dropped into the diner recently for a meal while visiting Hannibal. Overall the experience was good. There was a bit of a wait for service and for the food to arrive, but the food was very good and the portions were generous. Our group tried a mix of both breakfast and lunch items and they were all of good quality. One word of warning: they do close at 2 pm, so this is strictly a breakfast-lunch sort of visit.
Charming little diner. The staff was great. My daughter's pancake came as a snowman, with a chocolate chip face. My wife wasn't impressed with her burger. Not bad, just not impressed. I ordered biscuits and gravy, and corned beef hash. Both are items diners mess up all the time. Their B&G was slightly sweet, which was a pleasant surprise. Their CBH was very flavorful. You can really taste the corned beef.
I love this place!!! The food is great, prices are good and they have the best waitresses I've ever met!!! Very comical women and they make the time there very pleasurable!!! Most favorite place to go, will return every chance I can!!!
I love the food and the welcoming down home feel of the place. It has that old fashioned diner atmosphere that you just don't find nowadays. The food is really good and you get lots of it for the price! Service is excellent too!
I had high hopes for this place. Homemade corned beef hash breakfast plate. It looked awesome. It looked so good, I sent a picture to friends. Unfortunately, it was room temp almost cold, as if it was reheated in microwave. The person I was with ordered pancakes they were huge looked fluffy and delicious. Turned out bottom was burnt. Disappointing to say the least in both meals. Service needs work. We had to get from another table syrup, after asking twice. Waitress was more interested in chatting up a single guy then serving us.
This was a great diner. First off, the waitress was excellent. She went out of her way to make my four year old daughter feel more comfortable. Thanks for the "doggy treats". The food was delicious. It was also very big portions. Heads up, a stack of pancakes is way more than you'd expect. Prices are about the same as all other restaurants in the area. Definitely, give them a try.
Staff is nice but it ends there. Food is one step above road kill . They have no clue about over easy compared to over medium, home fries burnt. Hash browns hardly warm can’t even take the time to butter your muffin with breakfast. Absolutely the last choice to eat in Hannibal!!!
The best Club Sandwich I have ever had. And great prices.
Amazing little find! Can’t miss it with the big sign. Here visiting from out of town and we were lucky to eat here. Busy the whole time we were there. Hubby had the double with cheese & house chips. I had the black bean burger, and it was pleasantly amazing! Even the hubby liked the burger and he’s a meat guy. We also split an order of onion rings, loved the batter. Very tasty. We’d highly recommend this place and if we’re ever back would stop in to try breakfast as well.
Best breakfast in town. Over past few years this place has gone through a few owners. Now reminiscent of the original. Great food, great service.
Great food. Good service. Nice atmosphere.
We enjoyed a fast lunch stop at the diner. We ordered a variety of lunch plates including an open face turkey sandwich, burgers, chicken fingers, etc. Sides were mainly fries and onion rings (best side!)
Perfect diner, delicious food... amazing bacon, saw an order of chicken fried steak, looked delicious even if you don't do fried foods, epic, worth a try. Very good quality food, low prices, friendly faces.
Slowest service I have ever experienced, and worst of all: the food was awful. How hard is it cook eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon?
Great staff good food and service
Good food and decent prices. My only complaint would be that my food wasn't very warm. I wonder if the heat lamps worked? Excellent flavor and nice sized portions.
Great diner. Great prices. Get a fresh fried donut as well. You won't be disappointed.
great food, people, atmosphere, and prices. Pretty waitresses also.😉
I would give it 4 1/2 star's if able. This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. It isn't a fast food place so you can't expect that. If you're in a rush this isn't where you want to go. We were there at noon on a Saturday and in a little over an hour we were finished. The waitress we had was excellent, the food was good, the tea great and reasonable prices. The only downside, if that, is limited parking and can't blame that on them. Its much better than places close to it.It looks old timey with pictures, decor and music to match. Its worth the wait.
Fantastic place. I really enjoyed my breakfast! Very friendly staff too!
Good food, waiting staff was nice and the food is inexpensive. My son loves this place!
Great malts and shakes made with real fruit.
I live a couple blocks away and every so often I’ll walk down and get breakfast after work in the morning(I work overnights, not that it matters to this review). The diner is filled with 1950’s nostalgia. It’s a charming little place with the best breakfast. Definitely worth a try if you’re ever in the area.
We had an excellent breakfast this morning . The food was delicious and plenty of it. Our waitress and the whole staff were very friendly and attentive. Would recommend to anyone in Hannibal to go there. We will definitely be back!! Loved it!
Quick, friendly service, and good food!
Big portions, tasty food, very friendly staff. Great place to have a hearty breakfast.
Great Food! Best waitress in town! Great lil diner with great food. Very cozy and a cool place to become a regular!
Delicious ice cream and amazing gifts!
The place was packed with people eating breakfast. Didn't take long to get a place to sit, good atmosphere, friendly staff, good food. Would highly recommend Thatcher's if you are in Hannibal.
YUMMMMMY!!! And fun, friendly place to eat.
The waitress was pleasant, however when we walked in there wasn’t many people there. We ordered fairly soon and people started trickling in. There was a group of 7 (one of which came and ordered after the rest of their group) that arrived and ordered after us (we were a group of 4) yet was served quite a bit before us however not all at the same time. We also saw another group that ordered after us get served before us as well. As for the food it was not great. We got omelets/a burrito. All the meat was burnt used was burnt. The butter wasn’t melted on the toast as it was cold. 3 of us had crispy hash brown strings soaked in grease (the grease was pooled on the plates and the 4th one wasn’t cooked. We notified the waitress and she said when they get busy the cooks don’t know how to keep up.
We left Chicago early Friday morning and we were hankering for a hearty breakfast by the time we got to Missouri. Hannibal is the perfect detour from our road trip and a destination in itself. Becky Thatcher's diner is cute and clean, and open early. My dude ordered biscuits and gravy and I had corned beef hash. His biscuits were soft and buttery, and the gravy had a good amount of sausage. I think they make the corned beef in house because it had big pieces and was seasoned perfectly. The server forgot my toast, but with all that beef and 2 perfect eggs, I didn't need it. Coffee was just okay and i didn't see the bottom of my cup during our time there. It was the perfect stop on our way to kansas city.
Great food at a great price, accompanied with great service. Very friendly and very helpful. A must for people passing through or staying awhile.
The food and the service are some of the best I've had in the 27 years I've lived in the Tri-states!!!!
Clean place nice people
Food was great, the service not so great. My sister ordered fries and chicken strips and they gave her chips instead, we told the waitress she ordered fries and the waitress blamed her and said you never told me you wanted fries. Even though, it comes with fries and the waitress never asked her. My mom was out of coffee and the cup was sitting at the end of the table for about 15 minutes empty. She was too busy having a conversation and "didn't see us looking at her." As we finished our meal, two people walked in ten minutes to closing time and she turned them away, saying the grills were off. I didn't feel that was appropriate, I understand you want to go home, but you're open ten more minutes and you don't turn customers away like that. It's extremely rude, and especially when you're not even closed yet. As we were leaving she turned another woman away two minutes before closing. The food was good, but the service was extremely mediocre and didn't make the food very pleasant.
Super blueberry pancakes & meaty bacon!
Nice staff clean and comfortable. Affordable food that’s great
Service was great & the prices on the food was great. And the food is always done how you order it. We eat breakfast here alot and have never had a complaint with anything. Highly recommend this place.
Great friendly waitress...great open face roast beef and sausage and eggs awesome. Pies look wonderful !
Becky Thatcher’s Diner needs to work on their midwestern hospitality. My husband and I have both worked in the service industry so we’re pretty generous with time and tips. That being said, I was really disappointed in my experience at the diner. We sat at the counter and waited for about seven minutes. In that time two waitresses walked past us multiple times without even saying “Hi, I’ll bring you coffee in a minute.” There were several empty tables and waitresses were chatting with the cooks. I understand being off your game sometimes, but this felt almost intentional. We felt unwelcome enough that we left before ordering.
I went there for lunch today during a school field trip. Though it had quite a few people in there, I got my food quickly, and it was good. I’m definitely going back there whenever I’m in the area. The service was great, the food was great, and the bill was low, so I gave over a 50% tip.
Great food and ambiance
The food here was amazing. The staff was very respectful although our refills took a bit longer than I would have expected. I love the vibe of the diner and will definitely come back.
